Hypocritical World

We are parts of a hypocritical world,
Where happiness is bought with borrowed money,
And tears are wiped with blood stained hands.

Where the mind is but a shadow of social rules,
Defined not in clear white or black,
But a horrifyingly dark shade of grey.

Where the truth is preached through lying mouths,
Promises made with crossed fingers,
And we fend off backstabbing knives with knives of our own.

Where we tell children stories about fairies and elves,
But then proceed to scare them with imaginary monsters,
While hiding the ones in our soul.

Where kind hearted gestures are met with contempt,
Where angels conceal poisoned fangs,
And true heroes forever live in the shadows.

Welcome to Earth,
A home for 7 billion hearts but 14 billion faces.
